Tudor Party
July 2010
On the 1st July 2010, six Year 4 children who have worked hard all year were chosen to receive a very special reward. They attended a wonderful Tudor party held at Islington Education Library Service (IELS). IELS have recently had new costumes added to their huge collection and wanted to celebrate this with the local schools who use their services.
The children were dressed in traditional Tudor costume and took part in several Tudor based activities. They wrote with feather quills and entered a competition to identify the use of some Tudor objects. They played a game in which they matched modern day objects with their Tudor equivalent and were shocked at their findings! The children also produced brass rubbings of Tudor figures and tried a variety of foods in a delicious Tudor feast. They even got to hear a lady sing in the style that would have been heard in Tudor times.
Year 4 at Duncombe have studied Henry VIII and the Tudors earlier this year and thoroughly enjoyed every part of the afternoon. Duncombe would like to thank IELS for this fantastic experience.
