Welcome
Parental involvement in children's learning is a priority at Duncombe. We aim to foster and promote home-school links and to give you opportunities and encouragement to become involved in your child’s learning. This is done through a school based child centred service forging links between schools and families to enable young people to make the most of their educational opportunities. The work takes place both in the school and the local community, focussing on early intervention and parental involvement.
Sarah Harris is our School-Home-Support worker. Her work involves:
- Supporting parents and children to attend school regularly and achieve to the best of their abilities.
- Getting to know parents and children at the school.
- Liasing between staff, parents and outside agencies.
- Making home visits.
- Helping parents who have problems or need support.
- Encouraging parental involvement in the school.
- Helping promote activities and adult learning for parents and carers.
Sarah is available Monday, Tuesday and Friday between 8:30am and 4.00pm.
Attendance
We strive for 100% attendance from all of our pupils at Duncombe, however we understand that when a child is unwell it is often necessary for him or her to stay at home. Parents have a duty to ensure their child is not absent from school when it can be avoided. To help you decide whether or not your child should attend school please download and read this leaflet produced by NHS Islington School Health Service and Cambridge Education @ Islington Welfare Service
