Sports Provision

We teach a broad range of Physical Education activities with a focus on participation and progression across the school. Please see the  ‘Curriculum Map’ for the breakdown of genres across the school.

Swimming

Years 3, 4 and 5 have one term of swimming lessons at Archway Pool with professional swimming coaches. This ensures that children will have three terms of swimming throughout their time at primary school. Children should be able to swim at least one full length and we aim for them to be confident swimmers by Year 5.

Football

By far the most popular sport in the school; we have a wide variety of offerings, both in and out of school hours. These include:

  • Brazilian Football – A specialist coach who comes in to run P.E. sessions for years 2-6. This is skill based learning focusing on control and coordination.
  • Arsenal in the community – We offer children in need of extra Literacy support the Double Club through all the school holidays. They spend time in the classroom followed by an hour of football, everyday for a week. This includes training and inter-school competitions. We also run a languages double club with a focus on German one evening after school in the summer term.
  • After school training sessions – We have weekly sessions for boys in Years 5 and 6 on Wednesdays and Thursdays and weekly for girls in Years 5 and 6 on Fridays.
  • Training from Arsenal coaches – We have Arsenal coaches who are on their gap year coming in to run P.E. sessions for Year 5. They are completing Foundation Degree Programmes in Football and Community Coaching.
