Community Centre

Duncombe Community Arts and Sports Centre

We are looking to develop a community centre that will:

  • Award achievement
  • Create a vibrant resource for people in the local area
  • Embrace and stimulate a healthy lifestyle choice for young people
  • Offer volunteering opportunities and work placements, particularly to those not in education, employment or training
  • Provide a welcoming and friendly place where people can thrive in a safe environment
  • Transform the future of Duncombe’s children, their parents and their families
  • Bridge the gap between people’s abilities and expectations and those required for a fulfilled life
  • Develop a lasting culture of creativity and sports in Duncombe community
  • Encourage people to come together and try new activities
  • Produce new dynamic partnerships with other like-minded organisations
  • Train people of all ages in new skills and offer genuine pathways to enable people to fulfil their potential

Thanks to a donation of £20,000 from the school governing body and staff, parent and pupils’ help last summer with the consultation process, we have established a Charitable Company registered in England and Wales (Company No. 8568639 Charity No. 1154067). We are also starting raising the money required to construct the centre between the infant and junior playgrounds with an approach to the Big Lottery Fund.

Trustees: Lucia Garratt, Mick Holloway and Barrie O’Shea assisted by the Chair of Governors, Douglas Cowie
